Reflecting thoughtful farming practices, our biodynamically grown fruit delivered a notable depth of flavor in 2020. Complex flavors of black currant, plums, black pepper, and mushrooms are layered over herbaceous notes of oregano and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins and a lingering finish. The Butler will continue developing layers of character with an additional five to ten years of cellaring.
One of the original Biodynamic® vineyards planted in the United States, McNab Ranch is the agricultural heart of Bonterra Organic Vineyards. This single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has a brilliant, deep red hue and opens with an appealing chorus of black currant, fig and dark chocolate aromas. Firm though fine tannins frame a generous mid-palate that leads to flavors of cassis, toast, portobello and subtle minerality. Suggestions of tobacco and anise harmonize on a lingering finish.
Nestled between the shore of the upper Russian River and a blue heron nesting site and preserve, the Blue Heron Ranch beautifully integrates farming and wildlife. This Biodynamically farmed, single-vineyard expression of the extraordinary Blue Heron Ranch is a classic Burgundian-style Chardonnay. The wine opens with notes of lemon, baked apple and crème brûlée, balanced with brisk acidity. Barrel aging provides an elegant finish with a touch of toffee and nutmeg.
