McNab Ranch is Bonterra’s home, so it’s important to us that this wine is the best representation of the high standards we have for quality. It’s impossible not to be impressed by the natural beauty of this ranch, so we try to make a wine to honor this.
Jeff Cichocki, Winemaker
“This is a bold dry wine from one of Bonterra’s biodynamically farmed vineyards, and it has plenty of tannin in the texture and an abundance of ripe black-cherry, wood smoke and baking spice flavors to fill out that firm frame. For all its power the wine is also polished and velvety enough to sip with pleasure. Best after 2020.”
Jim Gordon – Wine Enthusiast
“Brawny but polished, this dark-colored and full-bodied Bordeaux-style blend has a tantalizing aroma of cedar and cigar box, then rich but bright fruit flavors and a satisfying layered and tannic texture.”
Biodynamic, Single Vineyard ‘The McNab’ 2013
Our 2013 McNab showcases the intense character Biodynamic® grapes can bring to a great wine. For this vintage we created a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Old Vine Petite Sirah. Each varietal is allowed to ripen individually to peak maturity before harvesting, expressing the vintage, and the character of each varietal unique terroir of the McNab Ranch.
The resulting wine has aromas of blackberries, black currants with touches of cedar. Soft tannins and a long finish reveal flavors of raspberry, plum, vanilla spice and well-integrated oak.Appellation: Mendocino County Alcohol: 15.0%
